This site makes Nazgul fierce. Taking a look at the nine Nazgul in the premier set, 6 of them are already fierce, and another (Ulaire Ostea) can make himself fierce anyways. The site may give you a little benefit with Nertea, but most people would rather hold Nertea for later to be able to use the ability to get minions from the discard pile. At site 2, there are few discarded Minions, and usually no more than 4 Companions. Lemenya benefits from the site, but again he's better saved for later, when you've drawn and played a few Blade Tips and Black Breaths. Also, since those Nazgul are roaming at site 2, they get hurt by Eregion's Trails, Swordsman of the Northern Kingdom, and other cards. Yes, I'm saying that Weathertop's game text is almost useless. That's just the point. If the opponent moves first, so you play your Site 2, then this one won't hurt you when you move there on your turn. So then why would you want to play this site? Because of the 3 Twilight it generates. That helps you play more minions at Site 2. It can make the difference between one Uruk-hai and two. Or it can help you play something really big, like a Goblin Patrol Troop, that would normally be too expensive that early in the game. Weathertop is the best way to generate twilight in the early game without having to move to Weatherhills, and without giving the opponent a site like Ettenmoors or Bree Gate. Return to Index |
