The Basics The ST:CCG is a great way to have fun. Sometime ago, someone decided it would be fun to play online. Now, a few years later, it is done on a regular basis. When you play a game online, you will need to have patience and trust. This guide is meant to teach you everything you need to know to play online. Getting Started The First thing you need to do to play a game at kedanya station, or any chat service, is to have a deck. After you have your deck you will need an opponent. At Kedanya Station, you can almost always find someone willing to play Star Trek. To tell people that you want to play, instead of saying over and over "I want to play", you have what are called game buttons. This is covered in the welcome to Kedanya course. Starting The Game When you have found an opponent, and found a place to play(Kedanya's Game Rooms work nice) you are all set. After you and your opponent are ready, one of you will use the randomizer or the [f] tag ( flip ) to decide who goes first. In an online game, there are several differences compared to a normal game. In online play, you use what is called "fast seeding". This means that instead of going back and forth, seeding one card at a time, you will seed everything in each phase at one time. So in the doorway phase, you will simply type all the Doorways you are seeding. So, your first line would look something like this, Doorways : Space Time Portal, Au Door, Q-Tent, and Battle Bridge Side Deck then you will proceed to the mission phase. You will each take turns randomly seeding one mission. It should look something like this : Player 1 : Patrol Neutral Zone Player 2 : Collect Sample, right Player 1 : Patrol Neutral Zone, left Player 2 : Historical Research, right You do this until neither of you have any missions left. Then you move on to the dilemmas phase. Instead of going back and forth, like in Real Life games, you will "batch seed". You will make your combos, and simply say " 3 Under 1st Patrol Neutral Zone, and 4 under all your other missions". Last is your facility phase. You will each say where your facilities are and also seed any other cards that allow you to seed them, ie Assign Mission Specialists, Hidden Agendas, etc. OK, you are now ready to play. You shuffle your decks, including any side decks you may have. You then draw 7 cards, and whoever goes first starts there turn. In online play, you will type out EVERYTHING you do. Even the smallest things, which don't seem big are very important. You must allow your opponent to know what you are doing. Useful things to know Abbreviations are often used in online play, here are the most popular ones. d7 - this is short for saying "draw 7". Of course the number will change depending on the number of cards they are drawing. yt - This simply means "your turn" this is often followed by drawing cards, and will look like this "d1, yt" WNOHGB.com has a very useful "dictionary" of the terms and abbreviations used in online play.
